Laura Assante Johnston, Au.D.
Dr. Laura Johnston (known as Dr. Laura by patients) received her Doctor of Audiology degree from Arizona School of Health Sciences at A.T. Still University in 2002. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Northridge in 1987 and completed a Fellowship Year at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. She moved to Sacramento in 1988 to join Sacramento Ear, Nose, & Throat. As Supervisor of Diagnostics, she provided clinical training and supervision. She spent years as a Commissioner for the State of California for the Hearing Aid Dispensing Examination. She presented research papers at various conferences and was published in Advance for Audiology . She has been a guest speaker for many university courses, conducted cochlear implant seminars, and has supervised students and audiologists providing clinical training. She has worked with school districts to implement Aural Rehabilitation programs. Dr. Laura has been on various local T.V. and news programs providing hearing advice. She is the Director of SENT Hearing Aid Center and feels it is truly a privilege to spend her day with such wonderful patients.
Judy Hanson, M.S.
Judy Hanson has been with Sacramento Ear, Nose, & Throat for over 20 years. She obtained her B.S. in deaf education at Texas Christian University in 1984. She received her M.S. in Audiology at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1986. Judy trained at Parkland Hospital and the Children’s Hospital in Dallas. She moved to Sacramento to complete her Fellowship year at Sacramento Ear, Nose, & Throat and was hired as a full-time diagnostic audiologist when she completed her training. As a diagnostic audiologist, Judy has been involved with many areas of Audiology and has spoken at several local community organizations on Audiology and Hearing Aids. Judy’s 17 years of cochlear implant experience led her to facilitate a young Namibian man to come to America to receive a cochlear implant. Judy volunteered her expertise in programming and fitting of the cochlear implant device and this story was featured on the front page of the Metro section of the Sacramento Bee. She sincerely has enjoyed serving her patients for the past 20 years and looks forward to continuing to provide care for them.
Kimberly Knudsen, M.A.
Kimberly Knudsen, a Sacramento native, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from San Diego State University in 1980. She continued at San Diego State and completed her Master of Arts degree in Audiology in 1982. Kim worked for Audiology and Hearing Aid Associates of La Jolla providing diagnostic audiological and hearing aid services to the community of San Diego. Kim remained with the company for 5 years before opening an Audiology practice of her own in Encinitas, CA. After 6 years of private practice, she accepted a position with Price Club (now Costco Wholesale) managing and developing their newly opened hearing aid center in San Marcos, CA. She remained with the company for 16 years before returning to Sacramento and joining S.E.N.T. Hearing Aid Center. Kim is very excited to be with such a professional organization and share her experience and expertise with her patients in the Carmichael and Folsom offices.
Sara Goldfarb, M.S.
Sara completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Science Disorders in 1987 and Master of Science in Audiology at Radford University in Virginia in 1988. She began her Audiology career in Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as part of a private practice audiology clinic and in an ENT practice for 13 years providing diagnostic audiology, hearing aid dispensing, and industrial audiology. She and her husband moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 2001 where she was a clinical and dispensing audiologist in private practice. In 2006, she joined a new hearing instrument manufacturer and helped launch a new line of high technology hearing aids. In 2009 she was again part of an ENT practice before moving to California to join S.E.N.T. as a dispensing audiologist. Sara has greatly enjoyed her many years of dispensing hearing aids in a variety of settings to help her patients hear better.
